ADAS provides stress and anxiety management training groups. These
groups run for fixed periods of time and cover a wide range of issues
concerned with the techniques used for stress/anxiety management
and assertiveness training. While the training may include drawing
upon personal experiences of the people in the group, the primary
purpose of the groups is training and not therapy. Adverse levels
of stress and anxiety are common amongst people with drug or alcohol
problems and the training will explore how stressful circumstances/situations
can be managed to reduce levels of anxiety. In addition, the assertiveness
training is designed to enhance self-esteem and provide coping skills
for difficult social situations. The training takes place at the
ADAS premises in Harlow in the large group room on the top floor.
