Counselling is a non medical intervention enabling a person to reconstruct aspectsof  his/her life

Counselling Service

The ADAS counselling service is free and operates in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice. The counselling is available via an appointment system and the first session is used to undertake a comprehensive needs assessment. Thereafter, each client is seen by the same counsellor at the same time each week.

Structured Day Care Programme

ADAS provides a structured day care programme which includes the following:

1. Stress, Anxiety and Anger Management Courses

The training is an actual course opposed to a therapy group and you will, therefore, not be expected to have to disclose anything that may be personal to you.  However, people may, at times, want to use their own personal experiences to reflect upon what they have learnt and this is equally acceptable.

The course raises awareness of physical symptoms and provides coping strategies through:

. Stress Education and Anxiety Management
. Relaxation
. Reviewing Lifestyles through time management
. Building confidence and Self-esteem
. Assertiveness Training
. Problem Solving Approaches
. Dealing with Negative thoughts/Emotions/Behaviours
. Anger Management and Relapse Prevention

2. Creative Services

ADAS now offers a new exciting range of services which can help you develop your creative skills, these include various art workshops. You do not need to be artistic to participate and enjoy these sessions.
